A Message From Tawny + the Board of Directors

A Message From Tawny

Hi Everyone,

I have some big and exciting news to share!

Over the past few weeks my Instagram account has been growing exponentially, which has led to me booking work with dream clients and my entertainment career taking off in a completely unexpected and amazing way. Due to non-disclosure agreements, I can’t share a lot of details yet, but let’s just say these are major opportunities in my career as a performer that I can’t say no to. I can’t wait to share updates with you all! Thank you for connecting with my comedy and this community that I love so much, I wouldn’t be where I am now if it weren’t for all of you supporting my work.

When I started Death is Hilarious Grief Relief Foundation, I anticipated slowly making the transition over into running the foundation full-time. My plan was to put a staff in place of highly qualified individuals who would manage the areas where I did not have experience. Then, I would focus my attention on using the skills I did have to create content and raise money for the foundation’s mission of expanding support programs for grieving people – all while being a daily presence in the organization and providing the oversight to be sure that our mission was being pursued ethically and appropriately.

I firmly believe that being present and involved is necessary to ensure that an organization is being ethically managed. And I have recently realized that I cannot pursue these opportunities I have been dreaming of since childhood and simultaneously manage the foundation to my standards.

It is after much deliberation that I have decided to step down from my position as CEO and resign as a member of the board at the Death is Hilarious Grief Relief Foundation. This was not an easy decision. It was a choice I sought advice on making from multiple people I admire and respect both personally and professionally. And it is ultimately the one that I feel is best for the grieving people who use the organization’s services.

I will be working with the board of Death is Hilarious to ensure a smooth transition. I have every confidence they will continue to run the organization with the best interest of the members in mind. They are kind and generous souls who are passionate about serving the grieving community.

While my journey with Death is Hilarious has come to an end, I will be forever grateful for what I have gained and been able to give others during my time facilitating support groups, podcasting, creating content, and mentoring. I am also thankful for all the immense healing and growth I have found through performing and group work. I’d like to share that today I am no longer suffering, am at peace, and have found a life worth living again after the incredibly painful death of my best friend and husband. I share that because it is my hope that everyone who is grieving will one day also find the same. I am honored that I can be an example that things can get better and life can be beautiful again after tragedy.

It has been an absolute privilege to serve you all!

Be kind and do good,

Tawny Platis
